Social Impact Hub Foundation

ABOUT

The Social Impact Hub Foundation is a company limited by guarantee and registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) as a Public Benevolent Institution, and has deductible gift recipient (DGR) endorsement. Donations over $2 are tax deductible. The Foundation receives an annual donation from Social Impact Hub, and seeks other philanthropic funding to sustain its work.

Auspicing

Given our DGR1 status, we can accept funds from charitable foundations, including DGR2 entities, and issue tax deductible receipts. As part of an auspice arrangement, we can enter into Auspicing Agreements and provide funds to auspicees to undertake specific projects which are consistent with our objects and purposes. OUR DIRECTORS

  • Cathy Scalzo

    Director

    In her capacity as CEO of the Scalzo Family Office, and Trustee of the Grace and Emilio Foundation, Cathy has worked with her family to align their investments with their values and has guided the development of the family’s impact investment portfolio.

    Cathy is Chair of Australians Investing in Women, Co-Deputy Chair of the Mornington Peninsula Foundation, a director of ygap and a member of Criterion Institute’s Shift Narratives in Innovative Finance Advisory Board.

    Cathy was previously General Counsel of Scalzo Foods, one of Australia’s largest privately owned food businesses, and has worked as a senior associate at Allens and as a diplomat for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

  • Daniel Grynberg

    Director

    Dan is the Group Head of Enliven Housing Group and CEO of My Specialised Accommodation Solutions, where he manages and grows a portfolio of Specialist Disability Accommodation homes seed-funded by Macquarie Asset Management. Dan has worked in several senior in-house legal roles and served nearly a decade as General Counsel for the Meriton Group, Australia’s largest developer and owner of residential property. He has also served as the CEO of a community fundraising and strategic planning organisation. Additionally, he serves as a board representative for investors in various businesses, including LongView Real Estate.

    In addition to his role as a Non-Executive Director for Social Impact Hub Foundation, he is also a Non Executive Director of The Bread & Butter Project, Australia’s first social enterprise artisanal bakery, which trains refugees and asylum seekers and helps them find sustainable long-term employment. Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

  • Jessica Mendoza-Roth

    Director

    In addition to her role as the Executive Director of the Social Impact Hub Foundation, Jessica Mendoza-Roth is the Founder and CEO of the Social Impact Hub, a certified B Corp that collaborates with social purpose entities to advise, educate, and mobilise capital to design, demonstrate, and scale impact.

    Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (with First Class Honours) from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School, where she was  awarded the prestigious R.G. Menzies Scholarship. Before founding the Social Impact Hub, Jessica served as a Solicitor at King & Wood Mallesons in Sydney.

    In addition to her roles at the Social Impact Hub group, Jessica has been a consultant to the impact investment sector. She has also served on the Board of a number of not for-profit organisations, currently including the Hakoah Club.   

FOUNDATION OBJECTIVES

The Social Impact Hub Foundation’s mission is to relieve the disadvantage and suffering of persons experiencing poverty or distress (including sickness, disability, destitution, suffering, misfortune or helplessness) (Disadvantaged Persons) by carrying out activities that provide relief to Disadvantaged Persons primarily in the form of support of and collaboration with mission aligned organisations (Public Benefit Organisations), and for that purpose to:

  1. Identify, engaging and developing partnerships with organisations who share the Foundation’s purpose of relieving disadvantage and suffering of Disadvantaged Persons;

  2. Raise funds and providing financial assistance to organisations to assist them to advance their purpose or undertake specific projects which achieve this purpose;

  3. Work in partnership with, or otherwise in co-operation with, organisations on projects that achieve the Foundation’s purpose, including building capacity and improving expertise for organisations to sustain and scale the impact of organisations;

  4. Develop and provide education programs specifically for organisations to sustain and scale the impact of organisations to relieve the disadvantage and suffering of Disadvantaged Persons.
