The Social Impact Hub was delighted to attended the Australian launch event for the G8 Social Impact Investment Taskforce report, and Delivering on Impact: The Australian Advisory Board Breakthrough Strategy to Catalyse Impact Investment, on September 16, at Customs House in Sydney.
The Social Impact Investment Taskforce report and other National Advisory Board’s reports can be found on Taskforce’s new website, along with a great video on impact investing, created by Digital Storytellers. The launch of the Australian report Delivering on Impact featured a fascinating panel discussion with Louise Walsh, Paula Benson, Gary Brader, Michael Traill, Wendy Haigh and Paul Steele. Sandy Blackburn-Wright, Paul Peters and Richard Brandweiner explained their roles in chairing the three working groups that will implement the report’s outcomes.
Significantly, National Australia Bank announced a $1 million commitment to an Impact Investment Capacity Building Grants Program at the launch, and QBE announced its intention to allocate US$100million to social impact bonds over the next three years.
Events in Australia and across the globe have received a tremendous amount of media attention. In Australia, there was press coverage in the Financial Standard, Investment Operations & Custody, Financial Observer, Investor Daily, Generosity Mag, and the Sydney Morning Herald. Rosemary Addis, Chair of the Australian Advisory Board on Impact Investing, and Co-Founder of Impact Investing Australia, also wrote the Op Ed for the Sydney Morning Herald.
The Social Impact Hub is excited to be part of growing the impact investment market!
